At Providence we believe that the Bible alone is our final authority for what we believe and how we ought to live. We are grateful to God for His raising up of men through the ages who have expounded and defended the truths of the bible. One crucial point in history where God raised up people who would defend the teachings of the Bible was the Protestant Reformation of the 16th and 17th centuries. Like those in the Reformation, we understand that the Bible is God's inspired and inerrant word. He has given it as the final authority to teach and lead the church. We believe that Jesus Christ is the only hope for humanity. His life, death, and resurrection is the only basis for being accepted by God. We believe that the only way that anyone can partake of Christ's work is through faith. Good works are done only out of gratitude for the salvation that Christ accomplished. They can do nothing to justify anyone in the sight of God.
